Miranda and Colton — two lives that had wandered very different paths — somehow found their way to each other.

For over a decade, Miranda lived around the world — Kansas, Zurich, Nottingham, London — always chasing new experiences but never quite finding a place to stay. In 2023, with some encouragement from her best friend Anna (who swore New York was full of “nice Jewish boys”), she took the leap and moved to the city that never sleeps.

Enter Colton — a native Long Islander who knew New York like the back of his hand. Naturally, he offered to play tour guide. And like any good New York tour, theirs began over a round of drinks.

As the months went by, they shared countless dinners, late-night walks, and endless laughter. Colton soon planned a ski weekend in Vermont to see whether Miranda’s Swiss ski stories were the real deal. The trip was a hit. Though Colton insists he was the faster skier (we’ll let him have that), Miranda kept up with ease, carving through icy slopes and weaving past snowboarders with the confidence of someone who had conquered the Alps.

A few weeks later, they flew to Miami so Miranda could meet Colton’s family at the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel — where his parents first met. From there, their shared love of travel took off: from Paris and Lake Como, to Mexico, Cannes and London, each trip brought new memories and stories that deepened their connection.

Before long, they traded long Uber rides between uptown and downtown for one shared home. It didn’t take long to realize they had found something rare: no matter the day, the best part was always waking up and falling asleep next to each other.

With a little help from Randi Shinske, Colton designed the perfect engagement ring and on March 29th, during the first warm weekend of spring, they spent the afternoon strolling through the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Miranda, dressed in white and highly suspicious, had a feeling something special was coming. That night, after a romantic dinner at The River Café, Colton got down on one knee — and she said yes. 💍
